May I ask the people who have played Runebound if they have played Dungeon Quest? If so, how does it compare?
DungeonQuest is fun if you don't mind a completely random game with a high death rate due to unfair traps, monsters, exploding potions, etc. Very much a press your luck game -- almost no skill or tactics (beyond searching skeletons is rarely rewarding). Fun if you want something mindless while drinking hard with friends or playing solo while watching TV (and/or drinking). Not like Runebound at all. Also, probably wouldn't just buy it for the characters.
Runebound does have a measure of strategy and tactics. It is more based on building your character, what color encounters to go after, getting the right items as well as blocking others. None of that is in DungeonQuest.
DungeonQuest is much shorter, even solo Runebound can take sometime.
