About Runewars:

Runewars is just Warrior Knights in Terrinoth. It has more steroids but all the mechanics are there. And comparing both games, Runewars is much more clunky than Warrior Knights.
And I give you three games in my collection that top Runewars: Cyclades and War of the Ring (second edition), adding up Warrior Knights, of course.

About Runebound:
Which Adventure games are better than Runebound?
Talisman (fourth edition) that feels like a Monopoly variant.
World of Warcraft: The Adventure Game that is dull game.
Prophecy that is a polished version of Talisman.
Mage Knight Board Game that you'll need to be a rocket scientist to read and interpret the rules.

For me Runebound is top when it comes to Adventure games.
It offers you free movement (sometimes movement dice can be tricky), it offers you freedom of choice and difficulty of your encounters, it has LOTS of expansions that really adds something to the game and the Character Decks are the best way to improve interactivity.
The only negative point I see in Runebound is the downtime between players, if played at 3 or 4 players, but a way to keep you in the game is the use of Character decks.

Also, because it's simple and fun.

I've bought Runewars even knowing I would dislike the game, I gave it several game sessions and tried every faction and the game didn't gave me anything I already had in Warrior Knights. In the end I sold my copy of Runewars and I'll keep adding Runebound expansions as long as FFG produces them.
