I will second Gawain here, he was not trying to patronize you. Our group is experienced as well, we had dozens of games of Agricola, several plays of Twilight Imperium, and I won't even count "less complex" games here. TtA is a confusing games with interwoven mechanics and complex book keeping. I would play either the standard or advanced rules at least once before moving on to the full game. Once your group gets the basics going, you can initiate new players directly to the full game, since you'll have enough infrastructure to support them.
