Well, I did it--I figured out how to change the cards to ones with American rolling stock!I just got the game "Freight Trains," which turns out to be by the same guy who did TTR. Anyway, not only does it have cards with modern American rolling stock, but they are the exact same size as the TTR cards, and they are color-coded by car type (plus--very important--there are enough cards of each car color/type to replace the TTR cards).
Here is what I used to replace the TTR cards ...
COLOR = FREIGHT TRAIN CARD
RED = BOX
ORANGE = REFRIGERATOR
YELLOW = GONDOLA
GREEN = CONTAINER
BLUE = COIL STEEL
PURPLE = PIGGYBACK
BLACK = HOPPER
WHITE = TANK
And to replace the TTR Locomotive wild card, I am using the AUTO RACK cards, which are color-coded dark gray (I thought the color was appropriate, seeing as that color matches thematically with the game board--gray spaces being for 'anything').
