It is really amazing to see how much the experience of every group may differ. My friends and I always play with the CFB. Our impression is that with the normal Cylon Attack Cards, the human fleet may simply jump away the very moment that the Cylons jump in. With CFB, jumping away is also an option but it only postpones the threat instead of reducing it.However, we generally avoid early reveals for the sake of maintaining paranoia. I have the feeling that we do so even when it is suboptimal in mechanical terms. This might explain, at least partly, why we have not had any major problems with the CFB.
Anyway, your variant does seem to be a very interesting option. I have already talked to one of my friends and we will probably try this out at some point. Still, I have some questions to all of you:
1. How would you deal with the problem that I described in the first paragraph? Or perhaps it is not such a big problem since even if the humans jump away, the Cylons will still get to them in a couple of turns?
2. Have you encountered any issues during your game sessions which might call for further refinement of the variant? Or could you elaborate – basing on your practice – how the game changes when the variant is introduced?
