I suppose if people had some other suggested WWII reading that wasn't directly SMG related, it wouldn't hurt to post either since obviously people here are into WWII.

The internet is an amazing, amazing thing. I found the army's military history site a few years ago and have been slowly reading all their books on the Italian campaign. The main site is:

http://www.history.army.mil/index.html

But from there you can navigate to a ton of great resources. Click on Bookshelves then Books and Research Materials and then World War II, then European-African-Middle Eastern theater, then Published Materials, and a lot of great stuff will come up. For example, most pertinent to Sergeants! would be Omaha Beachhead:

There are also some fascinating reports based on interrogations of German Officers, about the Eastern Front, like German anti-guerilla tactics in the Balkans, and combating sub zero temperatures during winter fighting.
