Please back this project. You will pay more and get it months later than it is available to those that didn't back it. But at least you have the satisfaction of knowing that you contributed to it being available at all.
OK, so the KS campaign didn't say that. But no one can deny it is the outcome for a sizable number of backers.
For some the former aspect is the most important. For other the latter aspect is the most important. Both are valid positions.
I suspect that the effect of all this is that that more potential backers are now increasingly reading in the former aspect as a potential risk in backing projects.
This may have the positive effect that people are going into KS with their eyes open. But the downside is that less people are likely to back projects.
Personally, I think common courtesy means that backers should be treated with greater respect - but I also acknowledge that KS is a different beast with different rules.
If I don't like the rules, then I don't have to play.
I have burned $40 (actually more since my outstanding mortgage has $40 greater for the past 14 months) on a game that I will eventually get (most likely in 2013) and no doubt enjoy. But I won't repeat the experience. I will just wait until KS projects are available in the shops for cheaper. And if they don't get funded because I lot of people share my view, that's just too bad.
